Notice of Policies and Rules for 2017 Yardwaste Recycling Program

Beginning May 20th, 2017 the City will begin enforcing the policies below:

ONE TRUCK LOAD PER HOUSEHOLD PLEASE:  No multiple trucks, truck-trailer combinations, or coming through the line more than one time.  You may come every collection event, but one time only please. The intent of the program is to supplement residential curbside recycling, not land clearing.

NO BRANCHES OR LIMBS MORE THAN 3’ IN LENGTH OR 3” IN DIAMETER:  Unfortunately you will be turned around and sent away if staff sees debris too long or too large.  Yard debris not cut to the required size or smaller keeps us from being able to get as much as possible into the containers, and is adding to the debris piles at our Public Works Shops that are growing every week.

YARDWASTE COLLECTION IS A SERVICE OFFERED BY THE CITY OF NORTH BEND AND PAID FOR BY GRANTS FROM KING COUNTY, WITH THE INTENT OF PROVIDING LOCAL RESIDENTIAL CITIZENS A NO-COST YARD DEBRIS DROP-OFF LOCATION TO KEEP YARDWASTE OUT OF LOCAL LANDFILLS.  IT MUST BE KEPT WITHIN THIS GRANT BUDGET AND THE COSTS ARE SKYROCKETING WITH A FEW PEOPLE USING THE SERVICE SIGNIFICANTLY MORE THAN OTHERS.  CURRENT COSTS ARE FAR EXCEEDING AVAILABLE FUNDING AND THE CITY WILL HAVE TO DISCONTINUE THE PROGRAM OR REDUCE NUMBER OF EVENTS IF WE DON’T HAVE YOUR ASSISTANCE IN GETTING THE QUANTITIES UNDER CONTROL.  WE APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!

For more information call Public Works Supervisor Mark Pray at (425) 888-7654 or Public Works Yard Waste Program Coordinator Carrie Smith at (425) 888-7651.
