Downtown Intersection Closed for Construction; Businesses Remain Open

Construction is in full swing in downtown North Bend for the downtown plaza project. East North Bend Way, between Main Avenue North and Ballarat Avenue North, will be closed for approximately three weeks from Tuesday, Sept. 5 for the project.

Downtown businesses remain open during construction. The City has installed eight new “businesses are open during construction” signs at the road closure locations. Residents and visitors are encouraged to continue supporting downtown businesses during this time.

Traffic is being detoured around the intersection with signage to direct people around the project site during the closure. Signage to alternative parking locations will also be posted. While the intersection is closed, the City of North Bend has prepared an alternative parking map for residents and shoppers to use.

The alternative parking map, construction schedule, design layout and other project documents are available on the City’s Public Works Department Current Projects Webpage, http://northbendwa.gov/index.aspx?NID=161.

Although the intersection will be closed for three weeks, the downtown plaza construction is expected to last through November.

When completed, the downtown will be an even more attractive and safe environment for shoppers and diners, with wider sidewalks, pedestrian amenities and traffic-calming features.

If you have questions about the project, or would like to be added to the project email listserv for occasional email updates, please email downtownplaza@northbendwa.gov or call the North Bend Public Works Department at 425-888-0486.
