Eastside Baby Corner and Eastside Fire and Rescue is offering free car seat inspections on Saturday, October 28 at the North Bend Fire Station. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to check car seats for proper installation and advise parents and caregivers how to choose the right car seats and install them properly in their vehicles.

Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 13 according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Car seats and boosters provide protection. It is important to choose and use the right car seat correctly every time your child is in the car.

“Our goal for this joint venture is to promote the proper use of child safety seats to better ensure your child’s safety in the event of a car crash,” Eastside Fire and Rescue Captain Steve Westlake said.

The event is free to the public and open to everyone. There is a suggested donation of $10 per seat checked. Donations benefit Eastside Baby Corner to help purchase car seats for local families who cannot afford them.

Car seat checks will be held at North Bend Fire Department Station #87 at 500 Maloney Grove Avenue SE in North Bend.

Space is limited and registration is required. To register, go to http://tinyurl.com/EFR87-EBC. If you have more than one seat that needs checked, please email Cori Benson at Corib@babycorner.org.
