City to Hold Public Meeting to Discuss Weigh Station Relocation Options

Weigh Station Site Options
The City of North Bend invites the public to a Town Hall meeting to discuss options for relocating the weigh station along I-90 at exit 25 to North Bend. The meeting will be 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7 at Mount Si Senior Center, 411 Main Avenue South in North Bend.

The meeting will consist of a brief presentation from the City on the preliminary designs from the Washington State Patrol and Washington State Department of Transportation. The majority of the meeting will provide an opportunity for attendees to provide feedback and ask questions.

“We want to provide an opportunity for residents to be able to voice their opinions before final decisions have been made by the state,” City of North Bend Mayor Ken Hearing said. “It is vital to collect and incorporate feedback from our citizens who will be directly impacted by these decisions.”

Over the summer, the state evaluated five possible state-owned locations, all along eastbound I-90. The recommended location is a site between eastbound I-90 exits 32 and 34 in North Bend. This recommendation is not a final siting decision.

According to the evaluation document: “As the project advances, formal environmental and operational studies and analysis will be required before any final siting decisions and commitments are made. This process will include stakeholder and community engagement, in order to ensure that all questions and concerns are heard and responded to, and any necessary mitigation and design or construction commitments are identified.”
