Town Hall Meeting Held on Growth and Development

More than 50 community members attended a Town Hall meeting on Growth and Development at 6 p.m. on April 10 at the Mount Si Senior Center. The meeting offered a forum for providing information about state regulations governing growth and development and for receiving public comment.

Mayor Ken Hearing welcomed the audience and introduced City Council members and City staff. City Administrator, Londi Lindell, explained the Growth Management Act and illustrated the actions Council has taken to preserve the rural character of North Bend.

Next, Community Development Director, David Miller, explained the Washington State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) review process. SEPA is a law requiring all states to utilize a systematic, interdisciplinary approach to ensure that environmental values are considered during decision-making by state and local agencies.

The majority of the evening was devoted to the public who asked questions and offered comments about the topic of growth and development in North Bend.
