Public Works Standards

At the Sept. 18, 2018 Council meeting, the Council passedOrdinance 1666 adopting the very first set of Public Works standards in Cityhistory. Public Works Standards govern the construction of both privatelyfinanced public improvements, private improvements, and a city’s capitalimprovement projects such as roads, sidewalks, utilities, etc.

Recently, the City has been experiencing significant developmentand growth, creating a need for a stand-alone manual that allows Public WorksDepartment staff engineers and inspectors to more easily regulate design andinspect construction in North Bend’s best interests for life safety, publichealth, general welfare, function, fire protection, appearance andmaintainability.

The PWS will be the City’s road and utilities developmentguide for the next decade and beyond.
