Phoenix Plaza Right-of-Way Work to Restart Along North Bend Way

Starting the week of March 23rd, westbound vehicles along East North Bend Way will be intermittently shifted into the eastbound travel lane for the next few weeks. The lane shift is associated with the Phoenix Plaza private development project and is not associated with the City of North Bend’s roundabout project.

The lane shift is required to replace portions of recently installed utility pipes that did not meet City standards. The previous utility contractor has been removed from the project due to poor workmanship and multiple safety violations.

Local utility contractor, Westerlund Excavation has been retained by the developer of the Phoenix Plaza project to repair and complete the work.

The City will employ inspection coverage during construction to ensure work and traffic control meets or exceeds City standards.  The utility re-installation, traffic control, and inspection coverage will be paid for by the developer and not City taxpayers.

Hours of work will be from about 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The lane shift will be similar to previous shifts during the last few months.

The City recognizes this construction could be an inconvenience.  However, we will continue to make public safety our number one priority.  During construction, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact Brian Tucker at 425-888-7659 or email btucker@northbendwa.gov.
