City Playgrounds and Skateparks Remain Closed Due to COVID-19

To ensure citizen safety during the COVID-19 pandemic and accordance with Washington State directives, playground equipment and other specified areas of city parks remain closed.

Since COVID-19 can be spread through hard surfaces, the equipment cannot be properly sanitized to ensure children’s safety. Parks, trails, and sports courts are open. The City encourages residents to use these facilities and asks everyone to follow local and federal health organization guidelines of social distancing. Here is a list of open and closed facilities in City parks:

Open: Parks, Trails, and Tennis Courts

  • Parks (not playgrounds)
  • City operated trails
  • Tennis courts for singles; doubles if within the same household.
  • Sport courts for those in the same household.
  • Disc Golf at South Fork Landing in North Bend is open for limited play with safety requirements posted on site.

 Closed: Playgrounds and Skatepark

  • Playgrounds/playground equipment are closed to maintain social distancing.
  • The skatepark is closed to ensure social distancing.

The City will be re-evaluating opening these facilities once the State has entered Phase 3 of the Governor’s Safe-Start Reopening Plan
