Project Ignite Spreading Kindness, Positivity in North Bend

NB fire station project ignite

Have you noticed the North Bend Fire Station bay doors lately? Have they brightened your day? They’re meant to. It’s that simple.

Eastside Fire & Rescue launched Project Ignite last month -  a community art project designed to spread kindness and joy. It’s a call to come together, to lift each other up.

Those North Bend Fire Station doors - painted by Jan Formisano -  are part of Project Ignite. Lots of art projects like this are popping up all around the Eastside as a result.

Although this kindness campaign began last month, there’s no expiration date. So here’s how to participate and keep spreading positivity throughout the North Bend community.

How it Works. Art will be collected and displayed within the community. Eastside Fire & Rescue will focus on staking them into the ground in high traffic areas so kindness can be spread far and wide.

How to participate. Start the fun start. Suggested Materials:

  • Cardboard, poster board, card stock paper, cardboard boxes and other recycled materials.
  • Paint, crayons, sharpies, etc.
  • Share pictures and/or words of kindness, gratitude, or something you love about your community.
  • Adhere to yard stands or wire/wooden stakes with command strip or staples (optional).
  • Create as many as you are inspired to make.
  • Optional: Sign your masterpiece.

Rules.  Artwork must be suitable for public viewing. No nudity, violence, discriminatory, inappropriate words or symbols may appear within the artwork to be posted. Artwork submitted releases rights to all copyrights, claims, rights, or privileges. EF&R assumes no liability for artwork submitted.

Help. I don’t have an artistic bone in my body. Artistic bones not required. Art is about exploration and expressing yourself. Create what is meaningful to you.

I need art supplies. Just email and a representative will assist.

Options once your Art is ready:

  • Hang it in your window or in your yard.
  • Drop it off at the nearest Fire Station. In observance of COVID-19 protocols, ring the doorbell and leave your artwork for a crew member.
  • Transportation difficulties? Email to arrange a pickup.
  • Take a picture and share on social media using #projectignite. Tag @EastsideFire (Twitter) and @eastsidefirerescue (Facebook)
