This week the Snoqualmie Valley Record released the results of its 2021 Best of the Valley contest, with North Bend’s own Mary Miller named Best City Councilor. Fellow North Bend Councilmember Chris Garcia was also a finalist in the category.
The Snoqualmie Valley Record launched its Best of the Valley contest in 2004 and it quickly became one of the newspaper’s most popular initiatives where readers cast votes to choose their favorite local businesses, public servants, educators and more. This year 800 residents cast a total of 7,785 votes to help determine winners in 60 categories.
A longtime community volunteer, Councilmember Miller began serving on the North Bend City Council in January 2020, and also served on the City’s Planning Commission before being elected to council.
Mary is also familiar to residents as an accomplished photographer and was a double winner in this year’s contest - also named Best Photographer.
Councilmember Miller commented, “I feel very honored to be a Best of the Valley winner. It was certainly unexpected. Making it even more special is knowing that it is our residents who do the voting. After such a tough year, this contest brings much-needed positivity and normalcy to our community.”
