The City of North Bend will open Council Chambers and the City Hall lobby area as an emergency cooling center during the upcoming forecasted heatwave. These areas of City Hall will be open to residents seeking shelter from the heat from Saturday, June 26th - Monday, June 28th, from 10AM to 8PM, when historic temperatures are predicted to reach 100 - 110 degrees. The City may extend cooling shelter hours for additional days if temperatures continue to exceed 100 degrees F.
Residents utilizing the temporary City Hall emergency cooling shelter will need to follow Covid-19 public health guidelines, including signing in, temperature checks, masking (whether vaccinated or not) and social distancing.
Residents can bring mats and cold food. Bathroom access will be available. Occupancy will be limited to approximately 75 people. No alcohol or drugs are permitted.
