Construction at Tollgate Farm Park will Bring New Agricultural Amenities to Community

Community members will soon notice construction near the historic Tollgate Farmhouse as Si View Metropolitan Park District (MPD) continues working on its Tollgate Farm Park Improvements Project.

This week work is expected to begin that will construct a new barn on the property along SR 202. The barn is an infrastructure improvement that will support future agricultural programming at the park. It will be built near the historic yellow farmhouse and provide hay and equipment storage, along with space for agricultural processing and programming.

Si View Park’s long-range plans for Tollgate Farm Park include farm-based learning opportunities  like vegetable farming, raising small livestock, youth programs and camps, workshops for adults, and the operation of a farm stand.

Along with the new barn, the project will also improve the park entrance off SR 202 and add parking near the farmhouse. Across the roadway, three acres of land was recently fenced and tilled for the 2022 growing season. It is here that a wash station will also be added as part of the project.

During construction, areas of the park and trail near the farmhouse will be closed as a safety precaution. Park users are encouraged to follow on-site signage and detours as closure areas will change during different stages of the project.

Tollgate Farm Park, located at 1300 W. North Bend Way, is a working farm with views of the surrounding Cascade Mountains. It offers a variety of activities including soft surface walking trails with interpretive signage highlighting Snoqualmie Valley history; a children's playground and picnic area; large open fields for activities like soccer and cricket; as well as the historic farmhouse with future agricultural education programs.

Through a collaborative agreement, the 410-acre historic farm property and open space is owned by the City of North Bend, with park amenities developed, maintained and programmed by Si View Metropolitan Park District. The agricultural project is funded by Si View MPD’s 2018 Capital Bond.
