Upcoming Community Reinvestment Projects in North Bend

Community Reinvestment Projects in North Bend

At the June 7, 2022 City Council meeting, North Bend Councilmembers passed resolutions on a variety of community reinvestment projects, with an emphasis on pedestrian and vehicle transportation enhancements and repairs.

Councilmembers passed an amended resolution awarding the Annual Sidewalk Repair Project to RW Scott Construction. As part of a two-year program, these ongoing projects tackle sidewalk damage caused by trees that have outgrown narrow landscapes. Panels are being replaced and repaired to improve pedestrian safety and universal accessibility throughout town. The projects include:

  • Forster Woods: Crews will be focusing on more improvements in Forster Woods as a continuation of work that began in 2021. The project will include the removal of numerous street trees, stump grinding and sidewalk or driveway removal and replacement work.
  • Downtown Corridor: If you have walked through town recently, you may have noticed paint markings on the sidewalk in a variety of locations. These were made in preparation for ongoing sidewalk repair work. The project will include the removal and replacement of numerous street trees, stump grinding and panel replacement or repair.

Councilmembers passed two resolutions that contribute to the City’s Six-Year Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP). The resolutions include:

  • Awarding the North Bend Way Sidewalk Project to RW Scott Construction: The project, located along North Bend Way between Ballarat Avenue North and McClellan Avenue, will contribute to the City’s Sidewalk Gap project. It will enhance connectivity and pedestrian safety along a busy street. Residents can expect new curb and gutter in this area, as well as new sidewalk and driveway, ADA curb ramp installation, storm drainage infrastructure installation, street trees with root barriers, streetlights and additional parking.
  • Awarding the Park Street Turn Lanes Project to Reed Trucking and Excavating: Located along West Park Street, from Bendigo Boulevard South to approximately 300 feet further east, the project will provide a new, dedicated left turn/through lane and a dedicated right turn lane onto Bendigo Boulevard South. Improvements will reduce queuing on West Park Street and traffic flow through the Park Street and Bendigo Boulevard South intersection and will include curb and sidewalk reconstruction and traffic loop replacement.

All projects are expected to begin in the coming month, as summer heats up. Contractor crews shall be responsible for all traffic control during construction. Depending on the scope of work in each location, residents may expect minor traffic delays. The City apologizes for any inconveniences caused by these projects and thanks residents for their patience and understanding.
