North Bend Weekly Recap: Community Reinvestment Projects, Farmers Markets, Block Party and More

Upcoming Community Reinvestment Projects in North Bend: At the June 7, 2022 City Council meeting, North Bend Councilmembers passed resolutions on a variety of community reinvestment projects, with an emphasis on pedestrian and vehicle transportation enhancements and repairs: 

  • Councilmembers passed an amended resolution awarding the Annual Sidewalk Repair Project to RW Scott Construction. As part of a two-year program, these ongoing projects tackle sidewalk damage caused by trees that have outgrown narrow landscapes. Panels are being replaced and repaired to improve pedestrian safety and universal accessibility throughout town. 
  • Councilmembers passed two resolutions that contribute to the City’s Six-Year Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP): Awarding the North Bend Way Sidewalk Project to RW Scott Construction, and awarding the Park Street Turn Lanes Project to Reed Trucking.

 City Council Approves Contract for Economic Development Action Plan: At the June 7, 2022 City Council meeting, North Bend Councilmembers unanimously approved a motion authorizing a contract for an Economic Development Action Plan with Place + Main Advisors.

City Council and staff began the process of updating the City’s Economic Development strategy in September, 2020, noting a need for a holistic plan to foster sustainable investment, create family wage jobs, and provide more goods, services, and amenities to better meet residents’ needs.

Residents Invited to 12th Annual Downtown Block Party July 16th:  After two years of pandemic-related festival cancellations, the community is invited to celebrate together once again at the 12th annual Downtown Block Party, located in the Historic District of North Bend. Block Party will be held from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday, July 16th.

Your Next North Bend Yard Waste Recycling Event: The City of North Bend’s next 2022 North Bend Yard Waste Recycling program is set for Saturday, June 18th. The annual recycling program is open to North Bend residents and property owners on select Saturdays through October, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the North Bend Public Works building, located at 1155 E. North Bend Way. NOTE: Please enter through City Hall, located at 920 SE Cedar Falls Way.

In Case You Missed It – North Bend City Council Meeting Recording:  If you missed this week's City Council Meeting, the recording is now available on the City website, under “Media Center.”

North Bend Farmers Markets and Summer Concerts:  The North Bend Farmers Market and Si View Summer Concert Series are back for the season! Markets are Thursdays, 4 to 8 p.m. at Si View Park. Concerts are Thursdays, 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Si View Park picnic shelter. Learn more HERE.
