Tennant Trailhead Park groundbreaking ceremony celebrates new recreation opportunities in North Bend

Tennant Trailhead Groundbreaking Ceremony

January 11th marked the official groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the construction of North Bend’s new Tennant Trailhead Park. Si View Metro Parks hosted a small gathering at the site with project partners. The City of North Bend, King County Parks, and Si View Metro Parks are excited about all the benefits this new park will provide for the community.

Tennant Trailhead Park is a 32-acre parcel on Rattlesnake Mountain that will offer trails for mountain biking and hiking as well as a picnic area and viewpoints. One of the key elements of this park is a trail system of family-focused mountain biking trails that are easy and short enough for absolute beginners yet provide progression through a future connection to the Raging River trail system for a variety of riding experiences. These beginner trails will be a welcome addition to the local trail inventory, and best of all reachable on a bike from many of our local neighborhoods.

Phase I construction includes two miles of new trails within the park. Construction of trailhead facilities and parking area are scheduled to start later this year. Together with partners, additional grant funding has been secured from King County Parks Levy Open Space Grant Program and the WWRP Trails Grant Program for a later phase connecting Tennant Trailhead to the Raging River trail system. Tentative timeline for construction of this phase is 2024-2026.

Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance has been contracted to do the construction of Phase I. Interested in trail work parties? There will be opportunities to help shape these trails throughout this project. For details, please contact Brandon Lester at Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance.

Please note that while trails are under construction, this site is closed. Yes, we know it's exciting to try out new lines, and we look forward to it, too! Si View Metro Parks will announce as soon as the site opens up for public access. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

For questions, please contact Si View Metro Parks.
