Mayor McFarland will be proclaiming Saturday, October 7, 2023 as Arbor Day in North Bend! Please join community for a special tree planting event at E.J. Roberts Park, and prior to the tree planting, enjoy a local “Oaktoberfest” event in the park:
- Arbor Day Proclamation and Community Tree Planting, from 1 to 2 p.m.: Citizens are invited to participate in a public tree planting event celebrating the importance of trees in our community. We will plant two native Garry Oak trees to help beautify this local city park, and Mayor McFarland will read the Arbor Day proclamation. Please dress for fall weather, and bring your own gloves and shovel, as well as water and snacks if desired. For more information, contact Principal Planner Mike McCarty, at mmccarty@northbendwa.gov, or by phone, at (425) 888-7649.
- “Oaktoberfest”, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Coordinated by resident Terry Pottmeyer, this event will feature a variety of conservation-inspired activities for children, and booths providing information in collaboration with local organizations. This event is a private event (not organized by the City), but is open to the public. For more information, contact Ms. Pottmeyer, at pottmeyer@comcast.net.
Both events are free and open to the public, with no registration required. E.J. Roberts Park is located at 500 Thrasher Avenue NE.
