Community gathered at E.J. Roberts Park for another successful Arbor Day event this weekend, and it was among the community that North Bend Mayor McFarland proclaimed October 7, 2023 as Arbor Day in North Bend. Read the proclamation HERE.
Mayor McFarland thanked the community for joining this special celebration, and he acknowledged the importance of citizen participation and engagement. City Principal Planner Mike McCarty shared information about the importance and value of planting native species in our parks and in our gardens, as two Garry Oak trees were planted.
Prior to the tree planting, local resident Terry Pottmeyer hosted a free “Oaktoberfest” event in the park that was open to the public.
“Arbor Day is always a special day for our city. As a mountain town surrounded by public trails and preserved open space, we take pride in being a highly livable small town that is the premiere outdoor recreation destination in the Puget Sound region,” commented Mayor McFarland.
