The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is coordinating the installation of playground equipment at the site of the future Dahlgren Family Park on November 8. Between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., drivers will experience traffic delays while a crane is being maneuvered throughout the work area.
Lane closures are scheduled to occur on the westbound travel lane and center turn lane of SE North Bend Way in the vicinity of one intersection with SE Tanner Road (see map below). Drivers can expect to see clearly displayed signage in the surrounding area, as well as traffic flaggers at each end of the closure, and at two locations at the intersections with SE Tanner Road. Flaggers will alternate traffic, utilizing the eastbound travel lane of SE North Bend Way.
Intermittent traffic delays of five to ten minutes are expected. To avoid traffic delays, drivers are encouraged to utilize Exit 32 and 34 off Interstate 90 during this work. As with all outdoor construction projects, this work is weather dependent, and the schedule is subject to change.
The City apologizes for any inconveniences, and thanks residents for their patience and understanding as work on the Dahlgren Family Parks gets closer to completion. Playground equipment at the park will include:
- a large ADA-accessible canoe play structure
- some log and rope climbing structures
- bouncy toys
- a saucer swing
These structures were selected reflecting the adjacent Snoqualmie River and the recent history of the site as a pasture. The park is now anticipated to open in the spring of 2024.
