Many people no longer use or even have landline phones,
making reverse 911 emergency alert calls virtually obsolete.
In 2016, King County launched a new emergency alert system
that reaches citizens wherever they are and on any device. City of North Bend
encourages all North Bend residents to register for King County Alert to receive
important information about significant local events or emergency situations
via telephone, text and email.
Alert can also be used to notify residents of situations
such as evacuations, floods, road alerts or a chemical release. Residents may enter
their home and work addresses for geographic-specific alerts. Registration is
free and confidential.

Signing up for the new alert system is just one important
step in preparing for emergencies. Other steps include:
- Making a plan for you and your family that encompasses different emergency situations, such as flooding, wildfires or an earthquake.
Building an emergency supply kit for your home
Creating an emergency plan for your place of
employment and offering training for staff.
