Childhood Trauma Expert to Headline Encompass Rise & Thrive Breakast

Rise and Thrive

Encompass will host its third annual Rise & Thrive Breakfast on Tuesday, April 23 from 7:30-9:00 am at the Club at Snoqualmie Ridge. Rise & Thrive is an event that brings together business and community leaders for an enriching speaking program, networking opportunities, and a delicious breakfast to raise funds for Encompass early learning, pediatric therapy, and family enrichment programs for children and families.

The 2019 Rise & Thrive keynote speaker will be Kevin P. Haggerty, MSW, PhD, a University of Washington expert on how communities and professionals can better support children who have experienced trauma. Dr. Haggerty is the Endowed Professor of Prevention at the University of Washington School of Social Work and Director of the Social Development Research Group. In his keynote address, “Building a Resilient and Trauma-Informed Community,” Haggerty will discuss how parents, communities, and schools can better identify, assess, and support children who have experienced trauma. Chris Cashman, a television and radio veteran who has hosted locally in Seattle on KING, KSTW and The Seattle Channel, will act as the Master of Ceremonies for the festivities.

At the Breakfast, guests can get a sneak peek inside the Encompass Mobile Therapy Unit, a customized van that brings quality pediatric therapy to underserved communities in our area. Guests will also get a chance to preview a pair of Adirondack chairs, hand-decorated by a local artist, that will be one of six pairs auctioned off in May for the Encompass Take a Seat for Kids project.

For more information about the event or to reserve your seat, visit the Rise & Thrive website.
