The new City Hall will officially open to the public on Tuesday, July 30th. Staff from the current City Hall at 211 Main Avenue North and the Community Economic Development building at 126 East Fourth Street will be moving into the new building at 920 SE Cedar Falls over the weekend and be will open to the public on Tuesday. Both offices will be closed on Friday, July 26th and Monday July 29th for moving.
“We are excited to be moving to our new building that has been in the works for many years. Having all of our staff together will make it easier for residents to conduct City business and attend City Council meetings,” said Mayor Ken Hearing. “Our hope is that having a more efficient and convenient location will inspire more people to get involved in government.”
The new building offers a more customer-service oriented environment with adequate parking, better security and safety features, and one-stop services for bill paying, applying for permits, or other City business.
It consolidates City departments and administrative offices in the 14,000 square foot building with offices and many cubicles, plus a 2,000 square foot conference room, and a 35-car parking lot. It also provides access to future paved Tanner Trail and was designed to preserve many existing mature evergreen trees.
The new location is just east of the historic downtown area on the City’s Municipal Campus site between the North Bend Fire Station and Public Works Building. City Hall will open Tuesday, July 30th at 8:30 a.m.
