North Bend’s newest roundabout at Park Street, Downing Avenue and North Bend Way is almost operational, despite a very wet September. The City hopes to have the paving and concrete work completed by mid-November, except for the final pavement lift and some of the curbing around power poles that may be completed in early 2020.
Landscaping in the roundabout and inside the median is slated to take place during the week of November 11th, weather permitting. Removal of existing power poles and undergrounding of existing overhead lines will most likely occur in early 2020.
As a reminder, businesses in the Park Street Roundabout construction zone remain open. The City encourages residents and visitors to support downtown businesses near the roundabout. Drivers are asked to be courteous and patient of those attempting to pull into and out of business driveways. QFC plaza shoppers and R& R Rentals customers may use the entrances off of Downing Avenue North as an alternative.
When completed, this roundabout will improve public safety and reduce traffic congestion. Please be safe and thank you for your patience during construction.
