City Provides Update on Snow Removal Plans for Tonight

Below is the City of North Bend Update for the 4-8 inches of snow that fell Sunday night in North Bend.

  1. By 4 p.m. Monday, the City’s Public Works Department’s Maintenance Division had snowplowed 90% of the public roads listed as Priority Routes 1, 2 or 3.
  1. Either Monday afternoon or Monday evening, the City requests that you shovel the snow off of your driveways and park your vehicles in your garage or driveway, so that the City snowplows can more easily plow the local access streets and cul-de-sacs in the middle of the night.
  1. The Public Works Department will have several teams working all night tonight in various shifts.
  1. Early Tuesday morning between roughly 2 to 6 a.m., City equipment will apply sand to the City’s steep streets and street intersections. The City’s sand has salt mixed within it to expedite the thaw. City policy is to not provide sand on flat streets.
  1. City policy is to not use anti-icer or de-icer on the streets due to the concern for the Snoqualmie aquifer, drinking water quality, and potential adverse impact to public health.
  1. Please continue to shovel snow from your sidewalks into vegetated areas.
  1. Please continue to drive safely and drive appropriately for the conditions. Colder temperatures will occur overnight, so there may be icier conditions (especially north facing streets and in shaded areas) in the morning. Be extra cautious when driving down hills and on curves.
