Winter Weather Advisory Extended Through 7 a.m. Tomorrow

The National Weather Service has extended the winter weather advisory in our area until 7 a.m. tomorrow with additional accumulations of 3 to 7 inches possible. City Public Works crews will continue plowing snow throughout the night. Maintenance Supervisor, Mark Pray, said the snow plows are in good working condition and the City has ample sand and salt. The City asks residents  to make sure your streets are accessible for the plows by moving vehicles from the road sides and cul-de-sacs to help ensure city streets can be cleared for motorists.

Dropping temperatures will make for icy road conditions for morning travelers. The City recommends residents only go out if necessary and to use extreme caution if you must be on the road.

Remember these Tips for Driving in the Snow:

  • Keep at least half a tank of gas in your vehicle at all times in case you get stuck
  • Drive slowly and adjust speed to account for lower traction
  • Accelerate slowly to gain traction and avoid skids.
  • Increase following distance in case you need to stop
  • Don’t stop when going uphill. Get some inertia on a flat roadway to be able to make it up the hill

Please check the City’s website under News for updated road conditions and other weather-related information, such as trash service and transportation updates.
