School District is Preparing for Emergency School Closures

Forwarded on behalf of Snoqualmie Valley School District.

This will be the first of several communications over the coming days based on the rapidly evolving coronavirus situation.

In a press conference this morning, Governor Jay Inslee and Public Health Seattle & King County asked school districts in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties prepare for school closures that could last several weeks.  We are anticipating an order to close in the coming days.

We know this raises all kinds of questions and implications including childcare needs for our staff and families, school meals, graduation, student support services and much more.  Please know that we are working on contingency plans to address a wide range of impacts and encourage our families to do the same.  We will continue to provide regular updates as we work through these issues.

Unfortunately, the coronavirus outbreak has grown to an unprecedented regional crisis.

We appreciate this community and know that together we will get through this!

Stay tuned for more information.
