North Bend's storm drains help to quickly move water out of town. Please help keep the entrance to the drains clear of debris. Every piece of trash can contribute to flooding. Even grass clippings and branches can accumulate and plug channels. The City has a maintenance program that inspects the channels regularly. Dumping in drainage ways or streams is prohibited by North Bend Municipal Code. Contact the Public Works Department if you see illegal dumping or debris within the channels.

Flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program is available to any homeowner, renter, or business owner within the city of North Bend. All property, even those outside of the floodplain, are eligible to purchase flood insurance. Policies can be purchased for both structures and contents. Most homeowners insurance policies do not cover flood damage, but your homeowners insurance agent can help you get a flood insurance policy. The CRS program rewards a community for implementing flood risk reduction projects. The city's Public Works Department is proud to have accomplished a Class 5 rating within the Community Rating System. The Class 5 rating provides a 25% discount on the cost of flood insurance for most standard policy holders within the city.
