[ARCHIVED] Rapid flashing beacon crosswalk projects in North Bend begin October 28

Rapid Flashing Beacon Crosswalk

This fall, expect to see improved connectivity and walking conditions in North Bend, with new, bright, rapid flashing beacon crosswalks in three locations. Rapid flashing beacon crosswalks increase pedestrian safety by giving drivers more time to see, slow down and stop for pedestrians.

Rapid flashing beacon crosswalk projects include:

  • Beginning October 28: A rectangular rapid flashing beacon crosswalk at the intersection of Ballarat Avenue N and the Snoqualmie Valley Trail
  • Beginning October 31: A rectangular rapid flashing beacon crosswalk at the intersection of Mt. Si Road and the Snoqualmie Valley Trail
  • Beginning November 4: Crews will replace the current flashing crosswalk at the intersection of E North Bend Way and SE Orchard Drive with a rectangular rapid flashing beacon.

These crosswalks will not only serve residents in the immediate area; they will provide increased safety for pedestrians and cyclists using the Snoqualmie Valley Trail, as well as better connectivity between Si View Park and our downtown.

Drivers can expect occasional road closures during this work in the direct vicinity of each crosswalk, however, most of the project will involve shoulder closures only. Community members with comments or questions can contact Mike Mayen, Project Engineer, at mmayen@northbendwa.gov.
