[ARCHIVED] Help clarify local shoreline requirements!

SMP User Guide Survey_Web

Residents know that as a highly livable mountain town, shorelines from the Middle and South Fork Snoqualmie River make up a special part of our community. They are a habitat for local wildlife, they help protect against erosion and filter pollutants, they are a source of breathtaking beauty, and some shorelines double as a place for local summer dips.

Thanks to a fully funded Department of Ecology grant, the City is in the process of developing a Shoreline Master Program (SMP) User Guide that, when complete, will provide improved communication in the area of shoreline jurisdiction, as regulated under NBMC 14.20

If you are a shoreline property owner, you received a postcard in the mail this month with an invitation to take the SMP User Guide survey but all are welcome to participate.

Please consider sharing your feedback! Simply check out the SMP User Guide draft fliers by visiting the SMP webpage. There you will find the following User Guide links (these links make up elements of the SMP User Guide which will be expanded as work continues):

Once you’ve familiarized yourself with the SMP User Guide, please share with us your experience by filling out a quick online survey by March 4.

To view a map of shoreline jurisdiction which includes the Middle and South Fork Snoqualmie River throughout city limits, areas 200 feet landward, associated wetlands, floodways and 200 feet of floodplain contiguous with floodways, visit the Shoreline Jurisdiction and Environment Designation Map

The City thanks participants for feedback, and anticipates this grant-funded project to be completed by the end of June 2024. For questions, updates, and more information, please contact Senior Planner Jamie Burrell by phone, at (425) 888-7642, or by email, at jburrell@northbendwa.gov.
