One of North Bend’s greatest community strengths is our proximity to recreational trails and access to natural lands. The city is preparing a nonmotorized transportation plan for our cycling and mountain biking networks to do the following:
Enhance connectivity between trails, homes, and downtown
Propose infrastructure projects that address missing linkages and safety concerns
Improve the availability of cyclist friendly amenities and services
Encourage the use nonmotorized transportation throughout the city and beyond
Evaluate opportunities to provide educational resources
Implement and communicate higher safety standards to protect cyclists and drivers
Unify past efforts with current best practices and community values
Promote programs addressing equitable access to cycling
Create more tourism visibility to North Bend by facilitating regional interest our recreation economy
A report will be developed analyzing the city’s current cycling network, identify community needs and priorities, and outline steps toward becoming a cycling friendly community and a distinguished tourism hub for outdoor recreation.
Project Updates
City staff are beginning to coordinate public engagement activities throughout the community. Public engagement will occur between June through October 2025. A community-wide survey will be available at the beginning of June through the end of July. The following public engagement opportunities are anticipated:
June – July: Community Survey (online with hard copies available at City Hall)
June 14-15: Event Booth at Evergreen Mountain Bike Festival at Raging Rivers
June 25: Event Booth at Outdoor Adventure Jamboree
July 19: Event Booth at North Bend Block Party
October, TBD: Open House at City Hall
Q1 2026: Public Hearings
Community-Wide Survey
The community provided feedback through a community survey the city created this summer. The survey was open from June 13 through August 17, 2025. Thank you to the many residents who provided feedback on what the city should prioritize for new bike infrastructure, safety features, programs, and policies!
