Mayor Mary Miller began serving her first mayoral term in 2024. Before being elected Mayor, she served on the City Council for four years, until her term expired on December 31, 2023. Prior to serving as a City Councilmember, she served on the Planning Commission from 2016 through 2019.
Mayor Miller was instrumental in both the creation and growth of the North Bend Downtown Foundation, now in existence for over a decade. She also served in 2023 as the liaison to the City’s Economic Development Commission. She continues to volunteer for various Snoqualmie Valley organizations, including serving on the Northwest Railway Museum’s Board, Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum Board, Flood Control District Advisory Committee and Eastside Transportation Partnership. She is also an alternate to the Puget Sound Regional Council Executive Board and Snoqualmie Watershed Forum.
Mayor Miller's term expires on December 31, 2027.
MAYOR’S OFFICE
The mayor is the chief executive and administrative officer of the city and serves as the official and ceremonial head of the city on ceremonial occasions. Functions of the mayor include:
- Being in charge of all departments and employees
- Directing the preparation and submittal of a proposed yearly budget to the City Council
- Exercising the power to veto ordinances passed by the council (such veto may be overridden by vote of a majority of all councilmembers plus one more vote)
- Making recommendations for council consideration and action
- Presiding over all meetings of the City Council (mayor only has a vote in the case of a tie, except in the case of passage of any ordinance, grant, or revocation of franchise or license, or any resolution for the payment of money)
- Reporting to the City Council concerning affairs of the city and its financial and other needs
Mayor's State of the City Address
Mayor Mary Miller delivered her 2025 State of the City address at the May 6 North Bend City Council meeting, where she reflected on citywide achievements in 2024, and highlighted upcoming projects that are anticipated to move forward this year.
In her address, she spoke of her and the Council’s focus on fiscal sustainability, customer service, infrastructure and community development, expanding green spaces, addressing housing affordability challenges, and ensuring public safety for all residents.
